Description

The oldest building in the Piazza di Mel, Palazzo Barbuio-Gaio-Francescon dates back to the 14th century in its central part, and today it is a private residence, partially used for tourist rentals, visitable on special occasions such as during events organized by the FAI. The façade facing south is painted with frescoes depicting a battle scene and standing figures, while medallions frame the busts of a man and a woman. They are attributed to Pomponio Amalteo, from Motta di Livenza, who worked in Friuli but also produced in Ceneda and Belluno. Inside the palace, numerous frescoes from different eras have also been uncovered, often depicting a tower, an ancient symbol of the Barbuio family, which is also reproduced on the "Venetian" flooring found on the first floor. The garden, characterized by its staircase, often hosts events such as concerts and is chosen as a picturesque location for weddings.
